Code Definition
Code 23h: Motor Phase Error indicates there is a problem with how the motor is receiving and using the electrical energy supplied by the controller. An electric motor operates as a series of phases, each phase being a burst of energy that makes the motor spin. These surges happen in rapid succession and if one were to stop working, it would skip and cause a brief stall in the power allocation of the system.
Symptoms
- The LCD displays the Code 23h.
- the motor produces a grinding, gurgling, or popping noise when engaged.
Cause
- Faulty controller or motor.
Solution
-
Follow the steps below to check the connection between the controller and the motor:
- Preparation. Remove all batteries from the bike. Press and hold the power button on the button pad to discharge any remaining power.
- Disconnect the motor. Locate the cable coming out of the rear motor hub and carefully disconnect it.
- Inspect the inside of the connection. If you notice any dirt, damage, or bent pins, take photos and Submit a Warranty Claim or Start a Ticket for Assistance.
- Reconnect the motor cable. If the connector looks clean and undamaged, align the internal notches and pins and press them together firmly without twisting. Please take your time lining up the pins, as they can become damaged while reconnecting.
- Reinstall the battery. Reinstall the battery, turn on the bike, and check if the error persists.
Further Troubleshooting
- If disconnecting and reconnecting the motor from the controller did not solve the issue, please Submit a Warranty Claim or Start a Ticket for Assistance, making sure to include that you've already tried reconnecting the motor.
