Introduction
This article will teach you how to remove and insert the battery for your bike.
Tools Required
You will need the battery key to remove the battery. The key is not needed to insert the battery.
Instructions
2021 Models
Removing the battery
- Fully insert and turn the key, which will drop the battery from its primary cradle into the safety latch.
- Twist the knob on the front of the battery to release the safety latch and pull the battery out.
Inserting the battery
- Insert the battery into the frame, base first.
- Once the battery is resting in the lower cradle, angle and lift the top end of the battery into the frame until you hear a click and the battery is tightly secured.
2020 and Earlier Models with the Type A Battery
Removing the battery
- Fully insert and turn the key. Hold the key in the unlock position.
- If the battery has a latch, pull the latch and the battery off with it.
- If the battery does not have a latch, simply pull the battery towards you and off the bike.
Inserting the battery
- Insert the base of the battery in the cradle so the large peg of the battery is slotted into the corresponding hole in the cradle's base.
- Angle and push the top of the battery into the cradle until you hear a click and the battery is tightly secured.
2020 and Earlier Models with the Type B Battery
Removing the battery
- Remove the seat and seat post.
- Fully insert and turn the key to the unlock position.
- Pull on the handle of the battery and slide it upwards and off the bike.
Inserting the battery
- Remove the seat and seat post.
- Fully insert and turn the key to the unlock position.
- Line up the battery guide rail with the slot that runs along the back of the battery.
- Slide the battery down along the guide track until it sits securely on the bottom bracket.
- Lock the battery in place by turning the key to the locked position.
