How to Check and Replace the Bottom Input Fuse of the 2020 Type A Battery

Introduction

If you encounter a battery or power issue with your bike that uses a 2020 Type A battery, you may need to check the bottom input fuse inside the battery as part of the troubleshooting process. This article will teach you how to access the fuse, check whether it's still intact, and replace it if necessary.

1. Remove the 4 screws at the bottom of the battery casing to loosen the bottom cap.

2. Remove the bottom cap of the battery carefully. Be sure not to pull too hard as you do not want to disconnect the wires during the process. Examine the wires inside to confirm the solderings that connect the wires to the charge plug are solid and secure.

3. Open the fuse casing.

4. Remove the fuse from its casing. The fuse is usually secured tightly within the casing, so it may require some force to remove it. You may find it easier to use a small plier for assistance. When removing the fuse, be careful to not break it in the process.

5. Examine the fuse. Check whether the wire inside the fuse is solid or broken. Holding it against a light source as in the pictures below may help you see the inside more clearly.

6. Once you confirm the condition of the fuse, be sure to take a photo in case we require it for documentation for warranty purposes. You may also submit photos of the fuse and have one of our agents confirm its condition instead.

7. If the fuse is blown, you may replace it with a 5A fuse that can be found in any local hardware or electronics store.
